Anirudh Narla

International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT)

Researcher

Dr. Anirudh Narla is a dedicated clean-transportation researcher and thought leader working with the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT)—a global nonprofit research organization that provides policy analysis and technical insights to advance cleaner, more sustainable transport systems worldwide. Based in New Delhi, he focuses on decarbonizing transport in India through research on electrification pathways, heavy-duty vehicle transitions, real-world emissions testing, and compliance frameworks that inform policy and regulatory engagement in one of the world’s fastest-growing vehicle markets.

Anirudh’s work at ICCT centers on evaluating practical pathways to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility for trucks and other vehicle segments and on generating robust evidence on real-world vehicle emissions using advanced tools such as remote sensing under The Real Urban Emissions (TRUE) Initiative. His research supports technical discussions on emissions control and helps bridge the gap between laboratory standards and on-road performance—a key factor in shaping effective air-quality and transport policies.

Before joining ICCT in 2021, Anirudh engaged in diverse assignments across electric mobility and renewable power domains in South and Southeast Asia, building a strong foundation in clean-energy systems and sustainable transport. He holds a Master of Technology in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management from TERI School of Advanced Studies and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, positioning him at the intersection of engineering, environmental science, and policy-relevant research.

Anirudh’s contributions include co-authoring working papers and technical briefs on emission patterns, electrification strategies, and transport decarbonization, and he actively engages with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and research communities to promote cleaner transport solutions that reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases in rapidly urbanizing regions across India and beyond.
