Dr. Devndra Chawla is a seasoned business leader and visionary at the forefront of sustainable mobility innovation in India, serving as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of GreenCell Mobility—a pan-India electric mobility company backed by Eversource Capital (Green Growth Equity Fund) that is building zero-emission shared transport solutions with a focus on electric buses and clean surface transit. In his leadership role, he is driving the company’s strategic growth to expand India’s e-mobility ecosystem, scale deployment of electric buses across multiple states, strengthen charging and operational infrastructure, and accelerate the adoption of climate-friendly mass transit models nationwide.

With more than 26 years of diverse leadership experience across consumer, retail, and operations, Devndra brings a rare blend of strategic vision and execution excellence to GreenCell. Prior to joining the company in February 2023, he served as managing director & CEO of Spencer’s Retail and Nature’s Basket, where he steered retail transformation and growth, and held senior leadership positions at Walmart India as EVP & COO, as well as top roles at Future Consumer Ltd., The Coca-Cola Company, and Asian Paints—driving business performance, customer engagement, and organizational development.

At GreenCell Mobility, Devndra’s mission goes beyond commercial success; he advocates for scalable climate-aligned mobility systems that support India’s transition to sustainable transport while meeting the needs of urban and intercity commuters. Under his leadership the company has deployed hundreds of electric buses across cities, expanded intercity EV bus services, and secured innovative green financing for e-mobility projects—reflecting both strategic growth and environmental impact.

A graduate in production engineering from Pune University, an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, and an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, Devndra is also engaged in industry leadership through committees and forums with professional bodies such as CII and FICCI.
