Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Rattan is a distinguished medical microbiologist, academic, research leader, and quality-assurance expert who currently serves as Chairman of the Medical Committee & Quality at Redcliffe Labs—a rapidly expanding pan-India diagnostic and laboratory services company committed to delivering advanced, high-quality clinical testing and diagnostics. In this strategic role, he provides scientific leadership, quality governance, and clinical oversight to ensure adherence to global standards of laboratory accuracy and patient-centric diagnostic excellence within Redcliffe’s expanding network of laboratories.

Dr. Rattan’s career spans decades of leadership in medical research, clinical microbiology, and laboratory management. He has held senior academic positions, including Additional Professor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi; Professor & Head at Mahatma Gandhi Medical University, Jaipur; and senior faculty roles at institutions such as Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and Sharjah Medical College (UAE). Across these roles, he made significant contributions to improving laboratory diagnostic standards and teaching future clinician-scientists.

Beyond academia, he has steered major diagnostic and clinical research operations in industry—including leadership and advisory roles with Ranbaxy New Drug Discovery, Fortis Clinical Research Ltd., Religare SRL Diagnostics, Star Metropolis, and Pathkind Labs—combining scientific rigor with practical implementation at scale. In public health and policy, he served as a medical microbiologist and lab director under CAREC/PAHO/WHO (World Health Organization), bringing an international perspective to laboratory governance and infectious-disease diagnostics.

Prof. Rattan’s scientific contributions are extensive: he has published over 100 peer-reviewed international research papers, guided more than 40 postgraduate and doctoral candidates, and is named on 30 international patents—reflecting his commitment to advancing microbiological science and diagnostics. He also authored the book Antimicrobials in Laboratory Medicine (Churchill Livingstone, 2000) and has contributed chapters to numerous scientific texts.

His excellence has been recognized through prestigious honors, including the APJ Abdul Kalam Award for Lifetime Contribution to Medical Sciences (2018) and the Shriniwas Oration by the Indian Association of Microbiologists (2021) for his impactful work in tuberculosis diagnostics and laboratory medicine.
